The records are not complete and will be updated during the second phase of this project.  Click on the documents on either side of this paragraph to see a summary of the resource and related links.  You can search for specific resources in the collection by clicking on the Search page button to the left.

Goal of the Project

The goal of the project is to provide enhanced access to gender mainstreaming capacity support materials from the United Nations and Commonwealth systems.

This site can potentially also address the needs for:

  • Information on resource usage with various target audiences
  • Linkages to regular updates and information on gender capacity building
  • Increased collaboration on the development of materials
  • Regular review and feedback

Participating agencies were requested to provide gender mainstreaming training materials for inclusion in the database.  However, the resources received were of a much broader scope. They included many excellent reference materials that can be incorporated as background readings in training situations. It was therefore decided to include the full range of materials received in the first phase of the project and to provide information in each database record indicating the type and focus of the resource.

The categories in this database have been developed to encompass the diversity of the materials received and to enable users to review the resources based on substantive, pedagogical (instructional), analytical and physical attributes. Approximately eighty resources were submitted to the collection from the UN and Commonwealth systems. These resources cover a cross-section of themes in the Beijing Platform for Action.
