Ms. Rebecca Kinakin left COL on 2 December 2011 to take up a position in Papua New Guinea with Care Australia.
Rebecca Kinakin joined COL in January 2009 as the Project Manager for the Child Friendly Schools project, a partnership initiative between COL and UNICEF involving ten countries in Africa and Asia. She coordinates the development of training materials for CFS capacity building, as well as the training of trainers for national pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes in support of improving quality in education.
Since earning her Masters in Environmental Studies/Rural Livelihood Sustainability from York University (Toronto, Canada), Rebecca has worked with a variety of Canadian and international non-governmental, non-profit organisations, including the David Suzuki Foundation, Oxfam America, and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Her interests and experiences are in international cooperation, participatory and empowering learning processes, and community based planning and development. She recently spent 5 years living and working in Cambodia (and wider Southeast Asia), coordinating and advising on community based natural resource management, capacity building and networking, and participatory action research projects and programmes.
