Stitching Values together (Bangladesh 2003)
MOU signed between Southasia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) - IFC/World Bank Group and the Commonwealth of Learning regarding the delivery of an ODL modular course on managing occupational health, welfare and safety in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh - Export Garment Manufacturing Industry Management Training - The evaluation of the training pilot on this course is being published. An NGO in Bangladesh, the Southasia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) - IFC/World Bank Group has signed an MOU with COL to enable them to take the course materials, upgrade them as recommended by the Evaluation Report and roll the training out across Bangladesh.
The project delivers an ODL modular course on managing with a particular emphasis on Occupational Health, Welfare and Safety. It also has a particular emphasis on the role of women in these organisations. The project was developed in partnership with the Prince of Wales International Business Leaders Forum, OXFAM and NGOs in Bangladesh."
The project demonstrates the catalytic value that COL can play through its many networks. This project will improve the training of managers in Export Garment factories in Bangladesh, and consequently, the Occupational Health and Welfare Standards in these factories.
