What is RSS

RSS is an XML-based (eXtensible Markup Language) format for content distribution that includes headlines, summaries and links. The World Heritage Centre now offers an RSS feed or 'channel' for its main news feed. RDF stands for Resource Description Framework. You will require an RSS News Reader in order to recieve RSS feeds. You may already have one - please see below.

What is a News Reader?
An RSS Reader (also known as an RSS aggregator or News Reader) is software which enables you to get the latest news headlines, in RSS format, delivered straight to your desktop. Some RSS Readers also allow you to set up watches or filters so you only see the news you want to see. RSS Readers are available for free download, but are also already built in to the newest web browsers - MicroSoft Internet Explorer version 7.0 or Mozilla Firefox 2.0.
Where can I get a News Reader?
There is a wide range of RSS Readers available for most operating systems. Visit Google to find links to the most popular products.
How do I view the RSS feeds?
You can view the raw feeds by clicking each RSS button. If you want to view the feed in your reader then you can right click the button, copy the shortcut and paste that into your RSS reader.
