Millions of people in the world do not have access to the good food, health care and living conditions necessary to remain healthy. Commonwealth countries are working together to ensure all people can enjoy good health.
Commonwealth Day is celebrated in the 53 member countries of the Commonwealth on the second Monday in March every year. The aim of commemorating Commonwealth Day is to promote understanding on global issues, international co-operation and the work of the Commonwealth to improve the lives of its 1.8 billion citizens.
Further information about this year's Commonwealth Day theme can be found on the Commonwealth Secretariat web site.
Student and teacher resources for Commonwealth Day, Commonwealth sport and Commonwealth studies are available on the Commonwealth Secretariat's Young Commonwealth web site (www.youngcommonwealth.org).
Commonwealth Day and Commonwealth Day activity are also celebrated through the special Commonwealth Day web site (www.commonwealthday.com) offered by the Joint Commonwealth Societies' Council (JCSC) and the Royal Commonwealth Society.
