CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Papers, Workshops and Posters
All interested parties are invited to submit 300 word abstracts of papers, workshops and posters. The Programmes Sub-Committee is particularly keen to receive proposals for presentations relating to the declared sub-themes within the context of education for development.
Presentations may take the form of:
A paper or case study (20 minutes and 10 minutes discussion)
A workshop (60 minutes maximum) relating to one of the themes and leading to discussion or action by the participants
A poster 1m X 1.2m / 3ft X 4ft.
All presentations should relate broadly to the central theme - Open Learning : Transforming Education for Development
The sub-themes of the forum are:
Overcoming barriers to access and success
Open learning, the world of work and economic development
Open learning, the community and social development
Overcoming the digital divide: innovative applications of technology in ODL
Education for all: ODL and the global agenda on poverty alleviation.
Presentations will be grouped within seven general topic areas
Staff Development
Research/ Evaluation
Quality Assurance/ Costing studies/ Course Development/ Delivery
Management/ Organisation/ Accreditation
Libraries/ Information Technology/ Student Support
Telecommunications/ Computers/ Media
Copyright/ Intellectual property.
To accommodate sectoral interests the programme organisers may also link the presentations as follows:

Occupational training and staff development
Tertiary education
General community and social development.
Delegates intending to submit abstracts for adjudication are encouraged to submit these abstracts electronically. Complete guidelines for the submission of abstracts are separately included on the Abstract Form in this brochure, and are also available from Event Dynamics, the Forum secretariat or the Forum web site.
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 31 January 2002. Prospective presenters will be notified by 16 March 2002.
Paper and poster abstracts will appear in the Forum agenda provided that the participant concerned has registered for the Forum and paid the fee contribution in advance.
Examples of work:
Delegates are encouraged to bring ‘high’ and ‘low tech’ samples of their print, audio-visual, computer and telecommunications courseware to the Forum in July/August 2002. Kindly contact the Secretariat for display space arrangements.
