GENDER MICRO-SITE

Micro-site on Gender and Open, Distance and Technology-mediated Learning

About the Gender Micro-site

Purpose:
COL's Gender Micro-site has been designed to provide a one-stop, comprehensive platform to access print and electronic resources on gender and open, distance and technology-mediated learning (ODL) with a special emphasis on information and communication technology (ICT). The main purpose of developing this gender micro-site is to provide knowledge and information on gender and ODL/ICT so as to raise awareness and to provide tools to ODL policymakers and practitioners to help them address gender concerns in their areas of competence.

Who is it for?
We hope that it will be useful for administrators and policymakers; educators and trainers involved in planning and implementing ODL; researchers; non-governmental organisations and civil society; media professionals; gender activists; ODL learners and all those who are interested in promoting gender issues within ODL.

How is it organised?
The micro-site is organised into topic-based sections with links to websites and other resources relevant to each topic, most of which are available online without subscription. You can navigate through sections of this micro-site and click on the headings appearing to the left.

The micro-site also provides the beginnings of a biographical directory of some authors who have contributed to the field of gender and ODL/ICT. As the field of ODL is changing rapidly with advances in information and communication technologies, we cannot cover all existing resources. However, by providing links to the websites of important players in the field of gender and ODL/ICT, we hope to enable you to be aware of the latest ideas and initiatives in the field.

The site is maintained and managed by COL. Please contact info if you have any questions or suggestions for improvement of this resource.
