Journal of Learning for Development
New Journal from COL
COL launched the Journal of Learning for Development with its inaugural issue in December 2013. The new online journal provides a forum for the publication of research with a focus on innovation in learning, in particular but not exclusively open and distance learning, and its contribution to development. Content includes interventions that change social and/or economic relations, especially in terms of improving equity.
With a view to showcasing practical application to development contexts, the new e-journal publishes empirical research and case studies from researchers, scholars and practitioners, and seeks to engage a broad audience across that spectrum. It aims to encourage contributors starting their careers, as well as to publish the work of established and senior scholars from the Commonwealth and beyond.
COL President Professor Asha Kanwar states, “The journal is open access and available to all. We believe it will make a difference across the Commonwealth and more widely in encouraging the scholarship needed to take forward the contribution that innovation in learning makes to development.”
Professor Alan Tait of the U.K. Open University is Editor-in-Chief, in partnership with Dr. Mark Bullen, Education Specialist for eLearning at COL, who as Associate Editor manages the operation within COL.
The Journal of Learning for Development is always seeking submissions. Please contact JL4D@col.org for details.
The editors would also like to hear from keen and avid readers who would be interested in being one of the journal’s book reviewers. Please contact Dr. Godson Gatsha (Director, Southern African Development Community - Centre for Distance Education) at email@example.com for more details.
