Professor Madhu Parhar joined as Director, Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA) on 3 June 2019. Previously she was Professor of Distance Education in Staff Training and Research Institute of Distance Education (STRIDE) at IGNOU and was appointed as Director of STRIDE in November 2018. She holds a PhD in Education from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, M.Phil in Education from Delhi University, M.Sc. from M.S. University of Baroda and a B.Ed. from Delhi University, India.
She has held a number of roles in IGNOU and in other institutions including Wawasan Open University, Penang, Malaysia. She specializes in educational technology, open and distance education, instructional design and has contributed several articles and research papers in these areas. She has co-edited several books including Open and Distance Education, Indian Education: Development since Independence and Education in India; Dynamics of Development. She was consulted by UNESCO on various distance education projects.
