Case studies play an important role in generating evidence-based research on what works in technology-enabled learning (TEL), allowing for the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) to learn from practical experiences with government partners, institutions, and other organisations. COL’s technology-enabled learning initiative has developed six case studies based on field experiences implementing transformational change. Working with partner organisations, COL has demonstrated that systematic interventions can have a significant impact on our work.
The following six case studies present institutional success stories, national progress, and impact at scale:
- Technology-Enabled Learning Implementation at MIER: A Transformative Journey
- Guiding Change: Mainstreaming Technology-Enabled Learning through a National Agency
- Mainstreaming Technology-Enabled Learning: Strategies from UMS
- Integrating Technology into Teaching and Learning: Lessons from JOOUST
- Technology-Enabled Learning at the National University of Samoa
- Digital Education Leadership Training in South Africa: Learning from SchoolNet
Dr Sanjaya Mishra, Education Specialist at COL, who coordinated the development of these case studies, said, “The six case studies present a range of success stories. The Mauritius case study shows how a national-level agency can facilitate digital transformation through collaborating with COL, while the National University of Samoa case study highlights its impact at a national level through support over a longer time period.”
“Institutional case studies of TEL implementation highlight the success of COL’s Policy-capacity-technology model of integrating technology in teaching and learning. The SchoolNet case study on digital education leadership in South Africa demonstrates how COL can support the continuous professional development of teachers successfully using an online platform and local support through community organisations”, Dr Mishra emphasised.
