COL Governing Board meets in Vancouver

The Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Board of Governors held its annual meeting in Vancouver from 13-14 June 2018. The Board Chair Dr Linda Sissons, CNZM, welcomed members to the 35th meeting and highlighted the fact that COL completed 30 years of service to the Commonwealth this year.

COL President and CEO, Professor Asha Kanwar, informed the Board of COL’s activities in the 2017-2018 fiscal year and highlighted some of the achievements recorded during this period. She spoke about the six global shifts that had relevance to the work of COL and its partners.

At a reception to celebrate COL’s 30th anniversary, Professor Kanwar said that “Today, we can say that COL has fulfilled its vision, and has become a well-respected organisation that helps governments and institutions to expand the scale, efficiency and quality of learning that leads to sustainable development.”

High level representatives of Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, United Kingdom, the appointee of the Commonwealth Secretary-General, and eminent experts representing the Caribbean and the Pacific, as well as the Board Adviser, participated in the meeting.
