As part of the support provided to Ahsaah University of Science and Technology (AUST) to adopt a policy for Technology-Enabled Learning (TEL), COL facilitated a workshop from 25 to 27 June 2019 to sensitise and orient faculty in how to design blended courses in line with the draft TEL policy.

Thirty two teachers from AUST attended the workshop, which used the newly-installed Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). Participants received training on blended course design and various functionalities of the LMS to organise lessons, tests and discussion forums.

While inaugurating the workshop, Professor Dr A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor of AUST, thanked COL for the continued support and encouraged participants to adopt technology in teaching and learning. He emphasised that blended learning “will enable both teachers and students to engage in ways that would not normally be available or effective in a traditional face-to-face classroom style. Also, the resources will be available for them to access anywhere and anytime.”

Dr Sanjaya Mishra, COL’s Education Specialist: eLearning said, “AUST has taken steps to implement TEL to enhance and augment its focus on outcome-based education through the use of ICTs in the classroom and the adoption of blended learning. This will help prepare AUST students for the digital world of the 21st century with the appropriate skills to be a lifelong learner.”

The workshop was facilitated by Dr Indira Koneru from India and coordinated by Professor Dr Kazi A Kalpoma, Head, CSE, AUST.
