The Centre for International Education and Development (CINED) of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM), with support from COL, held a workshop on 16 and 17 June 2019 to develop a policy for Open Educational Resources (OER) to be implemented across institutions supported by DAM.

The objective of the workshop was to address the growing necessity and demand for increased access to educational materials among students in Bangladesh and to provide a centralised space for sharing materials developed in 13 different educational institutions.

As part of this policy, an OER repository is being developed to improve the management and sharing of the large number of educational resources developed by participating institutions. An implementation plan for this new policy was also developed. Twenty-five senior managers and heads of different DAM institutions attended the workshop, including Mr Shahnewaz Khan, CEO, CINED and Dr M Ehsanur Rahman, Executive Director of DAM. Dr Rahman appreciated the support provided by COL and asked all participating institutions to adopt OER as a result of the OER policy.

Dr Sanjaya Mishra, COL’s Education Specialist: eLearning said, “OER policy development and adoption at DAM will not only go a long way in making the DAM supported institutions increase access to educational materials for their students, it will also encourage Bangladesh to have a national policy for OER.”

The workshop was facilitated by Professor Mustafa Azad Kamal, Dean, School of Business, BOU and Mr Shahnewaz Khan, CEO, CINED.
