“I have met people, I have learned a lot, I have now hope in my life that I am going to be someone.”

Venanziah Nora Mueni Mutua
Learner at INVEST partner school
Thika Technical Training Institute, Nairobi, Kenya

Commonwealth of Learning’s INVEST Africa programme works with 13 TVET partner institutions in 7 countries to increase access to skills training through the use of technology in flexible and blended approaches. One main focus is on providing non-formal skills training for people working in the informal sector, particularly women.

One of the INVEST partners is Thika Technical Training Institute in Thika town near Nairobi, Kenya. In the past 3 years, Thika TTI has offered non-formal skills training to nearly 1500 young people who were locked out of the formal TVET system.

Here is the story of one learner – Venanziah Nora Mueni Mutua – in her own words.
