Robotics can help learners build the problem-solving, technical, and creative skills needed for the future. To support educators in bringing these opportunities into the classroom, the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) is inviting educators to take part in a professional development opportunity: Introduction to Robotics for Teachers.
This free, 12-week online course, beginning 28 September 2026, is designed to equip primary, secondary and technical teachers; curriculum leaders; school administrators; and other education professionals with the practical knowledge and skills to integrate robotics into teaching and learning. Participants will explore basic robotics concepts, simple programming, hands-on activities, and classroom integration strategies in a flexible, fully online format.
The course forms part of COL’s Youth Robotics for Blue-Green Resilience and Prosperity Project, a regional pilot that brings young people together to explore real development challenges and consider how technology, research, communication and advocacy can contribute to practical solutions. By integrating robotics into teaching and learning, the project aims to help educators strengthen learners’ problem-solving and technical skills, spark earlier interest in STEAM, and help students see clearer pathways to further study, careers, innovation and entrepreneurship.
