The Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA), in partnership with the National Institute of Education (NIE), Maldives organised a three-day online capacity building workshop for teachers in September 2020. The workshop brought together 560 participants, including teacher educators from NIE.

Inaugurating the workshop, Dr Abdulla Rasheed Ahmed, Minister of State for Education, Maldives noted the importance of teacher capacity development and expressed hope that more and more teachers will be able to benefit from such trainings.

The workshop programme included a presentation on Instructional Design for Online Learning, as well as sessions on the use of Internet-based tools for content development and collaboration, and a demonstration of the workings of a standard learning management system. Senior experts from India served as resource persons at the workshop, alongside CEMCA staff.
