COL, through its Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC), in partnership with the University of the West Indies, Mona, is organising a webinar, Connections across the curriculum: Is math an English language problem?
Focusing on the intersection between language and mathematics learning, the session explores whether challenges in mathematics may, in part, stem from learners’ difficulties with English. Adopting a cross-curricular lens, we’ll examine how stronger connections between literacy and numeracy can support improved understanding and achievement in mathematics.
As part of the Advancing Caribbean Teachers (ACT) in Mathematics webinar series, this session supports educators in strengthening mathematics teaching practices. It is designed for teachers, school leaders, mathematics educators, curriculum officers, and others interested in improving learner outcomes in mathematics.
