Reading Time: 3 min read

In this course, Teaching Chemistry with Technology (TCT), participants will explore the use of the Open Access PhET Interactive Simulation software in chemistry teaching. Utilised by educators around the world, PhET simulations bring worthwhile technology-enabled teaching tools to the classroom.

The PhET Interactive Simulations project at the University of Colorado Boulder creates free interactive math and science simulations – based on extensive education research and engages students through an intuitive, game-like environment where students learn through exploration and discovery.

In this course, participants will explore examples (and how to develop them) in incorporating active learning and simulations (online or offline) that can engage learners in chemistry education. The course provides an opportunity to meet and discuss challenges presented in chemistry education with chemistry and pedagogy experts who will guide the simulation development.

This mobile-friendly course is open to anyone, anywhere. The TCT MOOC has been designed to assist teachers, student teachers, teacher educators and instructional designers to plan and develop a chemistry lesson and related assessments with technology. The exploration tools, tactics and strategies covered will expand one’s  repertoire of chemistry teaching practice.

At the end of the course, either a ‘Certificate of Completion’ or ‘Certificate of Participation’ will be earned at no charge.
