On 18 June 2026, COL’s Regional Centre, the Southern African Development Community Centre for Distance Education (SADC-CDE), will host the sixth event in its Inclusivity in ODL in higher education webinar series. The series provides a regional platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing on learner support while advancing inclusive, accessible and responsive support systems.
Featuring student voices and speakers from Botswana Open University, the University of South Africa, and The Facilitator for Persons with Disabilities Association, this session will focus on localising the Persons with Disabilities Act (2024) through inclusive ODL frameworks.
The webinar will also:
- introduce principles of inclusive learner support in ODL in higher education across the SADC region;
- examine challenges faced by students with disabilities;
- explore strategies for strengthening key support services; and
- highlight best practices for developing inclusive policies, enhancing staff capacity, strengthening key support services and promoting regional collaboration.
