As the third session in our recurring series on OER Practices in West Africa, this event explores the institutional, national and collaborative factors that shape the adoption and sustainability of open education in tertiary institutions. Highlighting the critical partnership between libraries and academic staff, the session will examine how supportive policies, strategic leadership and national frameworks can create enabling environments for open educational resources (OER), while building the skills and capacity of faculty members and students to engage effectively in open education.

Presenter Profile
Dr Sophia Vivian Adeyeye, FNLA, Head of the Department of Library, Archival and Information Science, Lead City University, Nigeria, obtained her Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS), Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) and PhD from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her research interests include bibliotherapy, school librarianship, indigenous knowledge systems, social informatics, research data management and library and information science pedagogy. Her scholarly contributions include numerous publications and presentations at local, national, and international conferences.
She is an elected member of the Standing Committee of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Section on Education and Training. She currently serves as Regional Director for Africa of the International Association of School Librarianship (IASL) and is the Immediate Past Chairperson of the Nigerian Library Association, Oyo State Chapter. She is also actively involved in several international professional and scholarly initiatives that advance library and information services across Africa and beyond. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to librarianship, professional leadership and service to the Nigerian Library Association, Dr Adeyeye was recently conferred with the prestigious Fellow of the Nigerian Library Association (FNLA), the Association’s highest professional honour.
