Dr Schontal Moore, Adviser: Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC) at COL, recently represented COL at the soft launch of The Advancing Caribbean Teachers (ACT) in Mathematics Education project in Grenada.

The Advancing Caribbean Teachers (ACT) in Mathematics Education project, led by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), is a regional initiative enhancing primary and secondary math teaching in the Caribbean by boosting teacher capacity in conceptual understanding, gender-responsive pedagogy, and technology integration.

Using blended learning methods and engaging teaching models such as CPA (Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract) to foster confident, student-centred learning, the project aims to improve teacher capacity and regional math performance across the Caribbean.

At 9 am PST (UTC-8) on 28 January 2026, the VUSSC Voices webinar series will return for its ninth webinar, Transforming Mindset and Enhancing Disability: A Case Study of Inclusive Practices in Gateway Modules at NAMCOL.

Dr Schontal Moore, Adviser: Virtual University for Small States of the Commonwealth (VUSSC) at COL, will be joined by two guest speakers who will present a case study of inclusive practices in gateway modules at the Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL).

The webinar will enhance alliances among VUSSC stakeholders, facilitate knowledge sharing and discussion about common challenges faced by Commonwealth Small States in accessing high-quality post-secondary education, and highlight how VUSSC addresses these challenges through ODL.
